First woman commander Eindhoven air base

Elanor Boekholt-O’Sullivan is to be the first woman to be the Commander of Eindhoven air base.

She succeeds Johan van Soest, who was commander of the air base for three years. Under his command, countless military and humanitarian transport flights have been carried out worldwide. He was responsible for the ten ceremonies which took place at the air base for the victims of the MH17 disaster in 2014.

Colonel Boekholt-O’Sullivan was responsible, at her previous post, for the initiation, organisation and leadership of the Innovation Centre AIR (Ambition, Innovation, Result) of the Royal Netherlands Air Force Command. She started her career with the Royal Air Force in 1994, in air traffic control. Various posts followed, in the fields of intelligence and security.

The change of the commanders will take place on Wednesday 8 June at the air base.
