ASML taking over Taiwanese company

ASML is scheduled to take over the Taiwanese company Hermes Microvision. The computer chip manufacturer located in Veldhoven will pay 2,75 billion euros for the acquisition.

Hermes Microvision manufacturers systems which measure whether the machines made by ASML are working properly. This quality measure is important, as the chip manufacturing industry is getting more complex as well as computer chips getting smaller.

According to ASML senior executive Wennink the acquisition will quickly result in much better growth and profit as well as offering a competitive edge in the internal market for the firm. Both customers and suppliers of the firm will see the advantages of the acquisition in the very short term.

Hermes Microvision is a relatively smaller player in the market. The company started and developed in the American hightech-regio, Silicon Valley, but is now located in Taiwan. ASML has been working with the company for some time. The deal is awaiting final approval of the relevant authorities in Taiwan and the United States.
