Ranomi takes gold in 50 metres freestyle

Ranomi Kromowidjojo wins gold in the 50 metres freestyle at the European Swimming Championships in London.

The Eindhoven swimmer broke a championship record of 24.07 seconds and beat the British swimmer, Francesca Halsall, who won silver, and bronze medal winner Jeanette Ottesen.

It’s the first individual European title for Kromowidjojo on the long course. She is the third Dutch woman to win gold in the 50 metres freestyle, following Marleen Veldhuis (2008) and Inge de Bruijn (1999).
