One large asylum centre or multiple smaller in Eindhoven

Number of incidents AZC Orangerie stays the same

There will be one large asylum seeking centre or smaller multiple centres in Eindhoven from the end of the 2018 according to the municipality.

The municipality has started looking for an alternative for asylum centre, het asielzoekerscentrum (azc) De Orangerie. After consultation it has been decided that the centre will remain open until November 2018. From that point refugees in Eindhoven would have to be moved to another location.

In De Orangerie in Blixembosch there are about 700 asylum seekers. The municipality intends to accommodate the same amount of refugees from the end 2018. At the beginning of that year a decision should have been made on the issue of the location of the centre.

The municipality wants to involve residents in the search for another location(s). The appointment of De Orangerie as a centre in 2014 came as a big surprise to many of the residents.
