V&D relaunch negotiations fail

Reopening negotiations between bankrupt department store V&D and potential buyers have failed, the chain announced in a press release today.

This means only external affiliates La Place will reopen, having been acquired by supermarket chain Jumbo. Some 8,000 employees are facing job losses.

Receivers had been in talks with Cool Cat founder Roland Kahn, who had hoped to keep 45 V&D stores open.
