Van Gijzel shows his vision on society in book form

Mayor Rob van Gijzel is co-author of the book “Een stad die toekomst maakt” (A city which makes the future’). In the book he describes his vision on social living. The book will be published in May. Eindhovens Dagblad (daily) reports.

The book is written along with Hans Horsten, journalist and speechwriter of Van Gijzel. This book will be published just before Van Gijzel resigns as mayor of Eindhoven. Horsten says in the newspaper, that this is pure coincidence and not more than a curious incident.

Van Gijzel explains in the book, amongst others, as to where things go wrong in developments in society. For example, he criticizes the governance structure that it is outdated and no longer fits with current developments in society.

According to him it is time for new structures like collaborations and cooperative networks through which citizens can arrange things themselves, and should be no longer imposed by a government from above.

The 160-page manuscript is based on a script Van Gijzel wrote earlier, conversations with his spokesman Thijs van Son and author Hans Horsten. It is also based on the speeches which he held on several occasions and his reflections which he had recorded.

The presentation of the book is mid-May. After that it is for sale in shops.
