Residential school opens in Eindhoven

The first residential school in Eindhoven will open its doors Thursday, on the Brasschaatpad in Woensel.

The Woonschool (residential school) is an ordinary house where Voortgezet Speciaal Onderwijs (Secondary Special Education) students will take lessons in domestic and social skills. The goal is to ensure students are capable in day-to-day life.

The school was founded by Stichting Thuis (Home Foundation), Stichting Speciaal Onderwijs Eindhoven(Foundation for Special Education), and stichting SWZ, which supports individuals with physical and multiple disabilities as well as those with acquired brain injuries.

Alderman Jannie Visscher will attend the official opening.
