Temporary shelter for refugees in Valkenswaard

Valkenswaard’s municipality is providing temporary shelter for refugees. A maximum of two hundred asylum seekers will be staying in the Belleman Sports Hall in Dommelen, Valkenswaard.

According to the municipality, this is an emergency accommodation solution. The refugees will be arriving on Tuesday evening and will be leaving to a more permanent place of stay on Friday afternoon.

The sports hall will contain beds for the people. The municipality and volunteers from various aid organisations will take care of providing food, drinks and other items that the refugees might need.

Local residents have been updated about the situation. Should they have any questions, they can contact the municipality. According to the municipality, the shelter is necessary since a large number of mainly Syrian refugees have been arriving. Apparently, at an earlier stage, the local political parties in the municipality have already agreed to receive refugees and to provide them with shelter.
