New centre for young people with mental health problems

On the Stratumsedijk 20, this month, a new treatment centre for young people with serious mental health problems will be opened.

Apanta-jong (Apanta young) will be the name. It will be a private institution, and will provide assistance to young people, including depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD and behaviour problems.

The institution would like to reduce waiting time for young people in distress. Within fourteen days an expert and a treatment team should be available. According to Apanta in regular care institutions there is a waiting time of three to six months. The risk of sliding off would be much greater.

To stay in close contact with the young people, Apanta is going to work with student psychologists and deans of the TU/e, Fontys and the Summa College in Eindhoven. There is also contact with the teams in the Eindhoven area neighbourhoods.
