New cardiovascular centre ‘Catrien’ reaches highest point

Construction of the new cardiovascular centre on the grounds of Eindhoven’s Catharina hospital is steadily progressing, reaching a new high point of 17 metres on Tuesday.

Now the largest cardiovascular treatment centre in the Netherlands, the building will house 5 cardiac catheterization rooms and 12 lounges for angioplasty patients. The coronary care unit (CCU) and Medium Care units will each have 12 beds.

The centre, which treats more than 25,000 patients per year, will work closely with local companies Philips and Medtronic and is expected to be the most important of its kind in Europe.
