‘Clean’ buses in Eindhoven this year

‘Clean’ buses, i.e. buses that run on hydrogen, may be driving in the city this year. The Eindhovens Dagblad reports that two Phileas buses are being converted to enable this.

The hydrogen buses can be developed now, because the provincial government has agreed to contribute to the trial. They are going to invest nearly 600,000 euros in the project. The national government and private investors had already pledged money to make the project possible.

The province is getting together with bus company Hermes and bus manufacturer VDL to discuss when the buses will be ready for use. They aim for this year in any case.

The clean city buses should be running between the city centre and Eindhoven Airport.
