Local retailer sold alcohol to binge drinker

The owner of a local shop in Stratum was fined for selling alcohol to minors. According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, the 73-year-old man, can expect a fine of 1020 euros.

The case came to light when worried parents sounded the alarm after the 15-year-old son of one of them had been drinking into coma. He was at that time drinking with three other youngsters aged 15, 16 and 17 at the Genneperparken.

The binge drinker had been drinking vodka. The boy had an alcohol level of 2.7 and was awake again after 9 hours. The boy confessed they bought the alcohol at the particular local shop.

The shopkeeper admitted to the newspaper that he had been selling the alcohol to these minors. According to him, it was one incident in which, besides beer, vodka was sold.

Parents of schools in the area are informed by letter about the incident.
