Heemskerk beats swimming record on Swim Cup

Femke Heemskerk broke the Dutch record in the 100-metre freestyle with 52.69 seconds beating the time of the last record breaker, Kromowidjojo at the finals of the Swim Cup held at the Pieter van den Hoogenband swimming stadium, yesterday.

It was not the only feat for Heemskerk this sports event. With a time of 1.54,68 at the 200-metre distance at freestyle, she pocketed this record as well.

The Swim Cup in Eindhoven is important for many swimmers, they can attempt to set limits here to be allowed to participate in the World Championships in Kazan, Russia, this summer. It is clear that Heemskerk, now holding two records, will be participating. Also Ranomi Kromowidjojo, Sharon van Rouwendaal, Moniek Nijhuis, Inge Dekker and Sebastiaan Verschuren are sure to be participating.
