Catharina Hospital can detect cancer cells sooner

The Catharina Hospital has found a new method to detect cancer earlier. Also, with the same method, they can make a forecast sooner if Alzheimer’s disease will occur within ten years.

A new ultramodern scanner provides this. The new device is a combination of two existing scanning devices, the CT scan and a PET scan. It provides a combination which helps in determining the nature of a deterioration as well as the exact location of the abnormality.

In the case of cancer it has a special significance. These cells are always named an ‘aberrant metabolism’. For the determination of certain heart diseases, the new system is also innovative. The hospital can do focused angioplasty using the images from the scanner and operate.
