Town hall Waalre being demolished

The demolition of Waalre’s town hall started yesterday. The extensions to the monumental building that was ruined by an attack about 2,5 years ago will be taken down.

The area will be cleared after the demolition. The basements below the office wings will be opened and filled with sand. Lawns will be created by sowing grass seeds. Pedestrians can then access the area and the lanes around the Koningin Julianalaan safely again.

The new town hall will be located in the ‘t Hazzo building in the centre of Waalre. The municipality is currently still occupying an office building on the Laan van Diepenvoorde.

The demolition and clearing of the area is expected to take about 30 days. The old, monumental part of the town hall has been stabilized and boarded up. The municipality has not decided yet what they are going to do with it.
