Santa Run: running for Food Bank

The first Eindhoven Santa Run took place in the inner city yesterday. About 550 participants, dressed like Father (or Mother) Christmas, dashed through downtown Eindhoven to raise money for the Food Bank. The race was over 5 kilometres long.

As can be seen in the video, some runners were interviewed and, although they all supported the cause, a few said they mainly took part for the fun of it. It was not all fun and games, though. One participant told the reporter that his costume had made him feel very hot and that he had had problems keeping his beard in place.

During the event non-perishable foods could be donated. Moreover, participants had been able to donate an extra amount of money for the Food Bank when registering for the Run.

Choirs and bands, such as Koor Kuzobond, Sambaband Aventurado, Djembe Jozee en Feestje drive inn, lined the route.

This special Santa Run was initiated by the Eindhoven Marathon and concluded the Eindhoven running season. How much money was raised for the Food Bank is not clear yet.
