Concert halls to join forces

‘Concert halls ‘Effenaar’ and ‘Muziekgebouw’ should work more closely. Even a merger is not excluded,’ the Director of the ‘Effenaar’ Jos Feijen said in Eindhovens Dagblad today.

The ‘Muziekgebouw’ has had financial problems for a long time now and the ‘Effenaar’ also has a hard time financially, Feijen says. More and more artists want to perform at large festivals, making it difficult for the smaller pop music stages to book them.

The ‘Effenaar’ and the ‘Muziekgebouw’ are both more or less fishing in the same pond. Therefore, it would be a logical choice to start cooperating, Feijen states. Feijen has been appointed Director of the ‘Effenaar’ in order to implement a number of changes and to future-proof the pop music stage.
