Former care centre The Orangerie at the Castilliëlaan in the Achtse Barrier gets CCTV temporarily. The Eindhovens dagblad reported that policemen also guard the building at night and that there are additional security guards as well.
The reason for all these additional measures is the fire that raged at The Orangerie in the night of Wednesday and Thursday. It is suspected that the fire was lit.
The property is destined to house some 700 asylum seekers and this has caused quite a stir in the neighbourhood. One of the opponents of the asylum seekers’ arrival is even suspected of having threatened to torch the place.
Concerned citizens, protesting on Facebook against the arrival of the refugees, have firmly rejected the possible act of purposely setting fire to the building.
