Owner of unmanned car in water is detained

Last night, the owner of the car that was lifted out of the Biesven’s waters shortly before was taken into custody by the police.

The car owner is an 18-year-old Eindhoven resident. He is suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run car accident earlier that evening. The suspect reported to the police that his car was stolen. However, the police believe that he was involved in the hit-and-run accident himself. While arriving at his home to further investigate, the police discovered that he was wounded, most probably as a result of the accident. The driver of the car that was hit incurred neck and back injuries.

Just after finding the car in the water, a Trauma Chopper and a divers team from Den Bosch arrived at the scene, only to discover that the car and the area surrounding it were empty.
