More noise Eindhoven Airport

The noise pollution for local residents of Eindhoven Airport is vastly underestimated. This is according to a recommendation from the Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment to the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment.

Eindhoven Airport would like to increase the number of charter flights and has described this in a airport decision draft. However, the noise measurement in the decision is based on the sound standard for military flights. This standard is different from those of charter flights.

The airport decision draft is still to be approved by parliament. If the plans were to go ahead, according to the Enviroment Research Commission inquiry, the noise in the area will increase one hundred percent. The number of people affected by noise will also increase by thirty percent.

The committee would like more research to be done. For example, adjusting the flight routes.
