The Eindhoven Marathon would like to increase the amount of runners to 30,000 within five years. The marathon event presently has about 18,000 runners. The organisation has relayed this information on Thursday.
This growth would make Eindhoven Marathon one of the biggest marathons in Europe and thereby making it very attractive to runners from Germany, France and England, placing Eindhoven on their map.
This ambition is the result of collaboration with Belgian sports marketing company Golazo. The company is pushing to make serious headway internationally. Golazo is also closely involved in the Rotterdam Marathon and also in numerous other sporting events. The company has also developed training apps for runners and guides athletes in Kenya and Europe.
The marathon wants to create advantages with Golazo. For example, more sponsors can be recruited and runners can use Golazo apps for guidance in training. Furthermore, Eindhoven Marathon wants to organize more and larger running events in the region. This past year, we saw the Urban Run, Eindhoven Airport Run and the Ladies Flow Run take place.
