Seven TU/e ideas nominated for BRAINS Award

Seven of twenty nominations for the BRAINS Award are Eindhoven University of Technology TU/e ideas. The winners of the idea contest for Eindhoven students will be announced during the Dutch Technology Week on 22May.

TU/e student Paul Jansen and Fontys student Marco Batsen came up with the idea for a Stratum Community to help think about the future of pub street Stratumseind.

Pieter Custers wants to set up an energy store to work on social issues with other secondary-school students and so contribute to a more sustainable Eindhoven.

Ideas include: a design for a sustainable festival structure called SUmmerlaBB from Built Environment students Floor van Schie, Alice Janssen, and Marthe Doornbos,
Industrial Design students submitted a web application with information on the origin and eco-friendliness of clothes and
EGGY, a design shaped like an egg timer that helps (elderly) neighbours to get in touch more easily.

The final is in the Frits Philips Concert Hall (Muziekgebouw) on 22 May 7.30PM. To attend or register: www.brainseindhoven.nl/uitreiking.html
