New ‘birthmark app’ tests for possible skin cancer

Eindhoven started a Living Lab today. The city will be a testing ground for new ‘clever solutions’.

The Coöperatie Slimmer Leven 2020 (Live Smarter Cooperation 2020) has introduced a birthmark app for example, during the Dutch Technology Week.

SkinVision is a mobile app, with which you can take pictures of your birthmark. The pictures are then checked by the app for suspicious markings. Those suspicious markings could point to skin cancer.

The app is being tested during Living Lab among a random group of users, but the main goal of the test is to see whether doctors and other counselors can use the app in daily life.

Among other, insurance company VGZ and Catharina Hospital are participating in the Slimmer Leven project.
