Identity bracelet for bars & restaurants is delayed

The introduction of the Bars & Restaurants Bracelet, the Swipe ID, is delayed. The bracelet whereby youngsters can be checked for their age in a pub or bar was to be implemented this weekend.

According to a spokesperson, the electronic items enabling the bracelet to be tested are not yet available. Therefore, the bracelet’s introduction is delayed until its functionality can be proven.

Everyone at the age of 18 or older, can use the bracelet. The swipe system bracelet contains a chip which is passed through a scanner. The scanner will show the age of the person wearing the bracelet; thus showing whether the bracelet wearer may or may not drink alcohol.

The new date for the bracelet’s introduction is now set at 15 May 2014.
