Mayor Van Gijzel swore in twenty new councillors at the City Hall on Thursday. The politicians who had been elected again, also took the oath in the council chamber.
In his speech the mayor pointed out to the councillors how important their function is. "You will soon be looking at the city from a new perspective", he predicted.
As a result of the outcome of the elections, amongst other things, 24 councillors had to say goodbye last Tuesday. Their seats will be taken by 20 new councillors and four aldermen, who, for the time being, also take a seat on the council in addition to their other duties.
