Man starts fire in Catherina church, concert cancelled

A 57-year-old man from Eindhoven set fire in the Catharinakerk (church) Saturday.

The man reported himself to the police station located at the Mathildelaan later that day. The church curator had already made a phone call informing the police about a man who set a few chairs on fire.

The fire was extinguished rapidly and nobody got hurt. The police closed the church for further investigation. The organ concert that was scheduled that afternoon was cancelled and postponed to Saturday 29 March.

The church reopened on Sunday and the suspect is in custody.
