The Grote Berg will remain closed to traffic for a while. A broken water pipe at a construction site has caused holes of seven metres deep to be formed under the road surface. As there is too much danger of the road caving in, it cannot be used until these holes have been repaired.
Meanwhile, the municipality has made the applicant for the building permit officially liable for any damage to the Grote Berg.
Pending a response of the applicant, the municipality has started preparing for the repairs. It is not clear yet when the road will open again.
