Fontys School moves to ‘Witte Dame’ (White Lady)

Some 1,600 Fontys students and 80 staff members will move into the ‘Witte Dame’ after the summer holidays.

The School for HRM and Psychology is then going to occupy two floors in the former Philips building. The Fontys staff in Eindhoven were informed about this on Thursday afternoon.

Fontys University of Applied Sciences needs more space, because the number of technology students is steadily increasing. Both the School for HRM and Psychology and the technology courses are now situated at Rachelsmolen.

In time the technology department is supposed to move to the TU/e campus. Until then, a solution had to be found.

According to housing director Monique Peels, the space in the ‘Witte Dame’ was by far the best of all options considered: "The building is very suitable for teaching. The size is perfect and the concrete structure is easy for installation purposes. Moreover, the building has already been approved for educational activities. Therefore, we can move in very quickly".

To begin with, the lease will be for six years. The entrance of the School is going to be at the Emmasingel. The classrooms will be on the side of the Clausplein.
