Stratumseind starts with wristbands in March

Police sweep football hooligans away from Stratumseind

Cafés at Stratumseind start working with chipped wristbands the second week in March. The chip contains the bearer’s age.

Introducing wristbands is necessary because of a law that went in effect on 1 January 2014, increasing the legal drinking age from 16 to 18.

Wristbands can be ordered online and picked up at Stratumseind with an ID. They are scanned at the entrance of cafés, showing a photo.

Cafés that do not participate in this system will be checked more often by the municipality and will be fined every time they violate the law.

Most of the café owners take part in the system, even though they have to buy the wristband system and the scanners themselves.
