Further growth number of King’s Day visitors not desirable

The number of visitors during King’s Day (formerly known as Queen’s Day) in the centre of Eindhoven, has reached its limits’. This is what the board of aldermen told the city council. The board states that more visitors than the 235,000 people who visited last year, is not desirable and the municipality does not want to pay for the cost.

The celebration of King’s Day costs 260,000 euros, of which 75,000 euros is paid by the organizing committees in the city. The rest comes from the municipality.

Eindhoven365, the city’s marketing organization, is one of the parties eligible for organizing the party as of next year. This year, the municipality still takes charge. Because 27 April is on a Sunday this year, it has been decided that the celebration will take place a day earlier, on Saturday 26 April. As of next year it will be 27 April, the king’s actual birthday.
