Bookstore Polare temporarily closed

Bookstore Polare, located at the Nieuwe Emmasingel, is temporarily closing its doors, the company announced. Staff was informed yesterday.

The company says it is working on a ‘strategic reorientation’. All twenty branches in the Netherlands will be closed. Nothing can be ordered temporarily on their website either. The outlet store and the eight Belgian store remain open.

Two weeks ago, Polare was in the news because the Centraal Boekhuis stopped delivering books to them. Deliveries were resumed a week later.

Polare was created by combining the former Selexyz and De Slegte chains. Selexyz went bankrupt in 2012 and was merged with second-hand bookshop De Slegte.
