Strabrechtse Heide restoration project finished

Today, the Strabrechtse Heide (Heathland area near Heeze) have been fully restored. Over the past months, Water Board de Dommel and the municipality of Someren have been working together in order to restore the heathland.

The heathland had dried up over the years. Trees were cleared between the A67 and the Provincialeweg in Someren in order to stop this process. Fewer trees mean a higher water table, creating higher soil moisture levels. Biodiversity and wildlife in the area will be enhanced.
