Crane collapse due to production error

A production error caused the crane to fall on the train station in October, Eindhovens Dagblad reports.

A welding mistake caused a miniscule crack in the metal construction. The crack had been growing over the years, until the metal broke.

Part of the crane collapsed. Nobody got hurt, but rail traffic was stopped for hours.

The company that produced the crane, Spierings, says it will check all its cranes. No other mistakes have been found so far.
