Grocery shopping against poverty

People can help collect groceries at the Albert Heijn supermarket on the Limburglaan for the ‘Voedselbank’ (Food bank), today. This event was held because of World Poverty Day.

Between 10.00 and 19.00 hrs, the public received a flyer with information on poverty in the world and also in The Netherlands itself. On the front page of the flyer was a grocery list with products that are very helpful to the ‘Voedselbank’. Mostly long-life preservables, like coffee, tea, canned vegetables and fruit. People can help by buying one of the products on the list and then donating it to the project.

Besides collecting food for the ‘Voedselbank’, the organization is also keen on making people more aware of poverty. In The Netherlands alone, 30,000 families depend on the ‘Voedselbank’ for food.
