Metalworkers striking for higher wages

Over 750 employees in metal construction will go on strike

next Friday, at the Beursgebouw in Eindhoven. They want more appreciation for their profession, more influence when it comes to working hours and higher wages.

Metal workers are asking for a raise in salary of 2,5 percent. This percentage was already calculated last year as a mininum demand by the workers union.

The strike will start at 09.15 hrs with a speech made by union coordinator Mariëtte Patijn. Subsequently, various other activities will take place.

Eindhoven is not the only place where there will be a strike. Over a thousand workers will go on strike in Rotterdam as well, also fighting for better working conditions.
