New floor for station’s new shopping arcade

The first part of the concrete floor in Eindhoven station’s new shopping arcade was poured yesterday.

This first part is going to be 35 meters (115 ft) wide and 22 meters (72 ft) long, totalling about 425 m3 (15,000 cubic ft) of concrete, which arrived by more than 50 concrete mixer trucks. Eindhoven’s station is going to offer its travellers a new, 13 meter wide shopping arcade. Restructuring was necessary because the number of travellers has increased considerably. This is the first stage and will be followed by the building of walls and columns. Then, the upper deck will be put into place. The first stage should be finished by the end of this year.
