Mark van Bommel ends his career with a farewell match on Friday night
In a sold out Philips Stadium friends team ‘Team Bommel’ takes on the PSV-selection with famous names like Zlatean Ibrahimovic and Wesley Sneijer, led by former national coach and father-in-law Bert van Marwijk.
Van Bommel personally approached a number of former team mates with whom he played at PSV, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and the Dutch national team.
Van Bommel started his career at Fortuna Sittard. In total he won as much as 22 prizes with these teams: once the UEFA Champions League, nine national championships, the National Cup five times and seven times the Super Cup. In addition he played 79 times for Oranje (the Dutch national team).
Last season, Van Bommel returned to PSV, but they failed to win the coveted national title.
