Airport and hotel officially open

Today, Eindhoven Airport will officially open the renewed terminal and the brand new Tulip Inn hotel.

The adjusted departure terminal has become twice as large as it used to be. With this expansion, the airport hopes to have enough space until 2020.

The official opening will be done today by Secretary of State Mansveld of Infrastructure and Environment.
The ‘old’ terminal dates back from 2005, but new adjustments and expansions already started in 2011. The growth is mainly due to the increase of the number of scheduled destinations from 37 in 2011 to 42 in 2012.
With that, the number of travellers has also increased enormously. The airport had an increase in passengers of 14 per cent, up to 2,8 million. This year they expect a growth towards 3,4 million passengers, another increase of 14 per cent.
The new hotel is built on top of the terminal and has 120 rooms. An estimate of 50 thousand modern airplanes have been embossed in the hotel’s facade.
