Fireworks damage costs Helmond 45.000 Euros

HELMOND – Fireworks at New Year have led to 45.000 Euros of damage to council property in Helmond. The control system of a pump station was blown up amongst other things. In addition, bins and traffic signage were damaged.

This was announced by the council on Monday. The pump station is situated on Tranchweg on the Hoogeind industrial estate. Damage is estimated at 27.000 Euros.Despite numerous preventative measures, 40 bins, 5 dog poop bins and at least 20 traffic signs around the city suffered damage. Helmond city council announced that it intends to recover the costs via city waste taxes and dog tax. Furthermore, the city announced that other businesses and organizations have suffered damage. 5 bus shelters have also been severely damaged by fireworks.Source: Omroep Brabant
