Traditional Torchlight procession through city

EINDHOVEN – In the centre of Eindhoven on Christmas Eve the annual Torchlight procession (‘Fakkeltocht’) was held.

Once again there were thousands of people participating in the walk. The traditional procession is a sign of peace, tolerance and freedom. The procession, beginning on the Wilheminaplein was a kilometre long ribbon of lit torches.The first torches were lit by Alderman Fiers.The first torchlight procession was held in 1993 after Turkish migrant homes were attacked in Solingen, Germany.
