Kenyan marathon winner

EINDHOVEN-Dickson Kiptolo Chumba from Kenya has won the Eindhoven Marathon on Sunday 29th. He established a new course record (2.05.47).

From the start, up to 15 km, there was a large leading group containing all African favorites. Dickson Kiptolo Chumba (25) wasn’t mentioned in any preview but he was the big surprise in the final of the marathon. After 27 km he suddenly accelerated and left immediately behind the big favorite Tadese Tola. The two pursuers Tadese Tola and Chepkwony could not close the gap anymore. Chumba improved the track record with a time of 2.05.47. The Kenyan Franklin Chepkwony finished second in 2.06.11, his compatriot Eric Ndiema was third in 2.06.17. The Ethiopian Aberume Mekuria was the first woman who crossed the finish line in a time of 2.27.19.In 2014, the Organization will do an attempt to improve the world marathon record.
