Acquisition NedCar by VDL is final

EINDHOVEN / BORN – Eindhoven’s VDL finally acquires NedCar. The two contracts, on the production of Minis by BMW in Born and on the sale of the factory, that formally still needed to be signed are both signed now. Previously, NedCar’s current owner, Mitsubishi, already closed an agreement in principle with VDL on the acquisition.

This puts an end to the uncertainty about NedCar’s continuation. With the deal, the Limburg car factory can start building Minis for BMW starting mid-2014. For NedCar’s 1500 employees dismissal was formally requested, but they should be reemployed rom 2015 on.The rescue of NedCar is a blessing for Limburg.
