SGE International healthcare centre open five days a week

Starting April 2017, SGE International healthcare centre at Strijp S in Eindhoven is open five days a week. The centre’s daily opening hours are 08:00 – 17:00hrs.

SGE International opened its doors in November 2015 and has seen steady growth since then. To support the growing number of patients, a new GP, Dr. Baard has joined the medical team. In 2016 additional services such as an in-house psycho-social nurse and Eindhoven Midwifery Practice were provided already.

Offering culture-sensitive care for foreign nationals, the primary healthcare centre was established after various international organisations in the Eindhoven area – including Expat Center South, TU/e, and the city council – joined forces to address a proven disconnect between foreigners’ perception of healthcare in the Netherlands and how Dutch healthcare professionals view the quality and standard of care they provide. The centre was developed along with an international panel, called on to provide feedback and reflection.

Research carried out in December 2016 showed that the effort to close the gap between foreign nationals and Dutch care providers is seeing success. A potential area of improvement highlighted by respondents was the option to see a doctor any day of the week. In part due to increasing patient numbers, that option could be available as soon as this month.

Other patient-friendly services the centre offers include online appointment booking, e-consultations, and receiving text message reminders the day of appointments.
